Additive Manufacturing

Our Patent Pending use of Materials Science keeps sustainability in mind. We shape Thermoplastic Polyurethane into ergonomic supports through additive manufacturing. And added strength comes from a gyroid geometric lattice.

Cutting and carving raw plastics can produce waste that needs containment. Many companies still use outdated methods to shave, carve, and cut blocks of raw material.

Like the name implies, we make products by adding material. This is how we create more intricate products, that are stronger and lighter. It also reduces waste. We picked a more modern method because we choose quality over quantity.

For example, PORON™ foam is popular in orthotics and insoles. It's a closed-cell urethane that manufacturers carve into generic shapes in a factory. This leaves behind small particles of waste in the form of harmful microplastics.

TPU offers an impressive balance of mechanical properties:

  • High tensile strength
  • Good load-bearing capacity
  • Unique vibration dampening

TPU

Thermoplastic Polyurethane, or TPU, is sometimes called the bridge between rubber and plastic. It has enough "give" and flex to replace rubber or silicone with the added durability of plastics.

TPU outperforms other material. In sports performance research it improved running economy over standard insoles. And head to head against EVA foam, TPU showed a stronger propulsive load.

There are environmental benefits too. We don't recommend tossing in your household compost bin, but TPU is biodegradable. It's also recyclable.

Gyroid

Our products have a unique texture, and that's by design. The geometric pattern is actually an incredibly strong structure called a gyroid lattice. It's based on an equation discovered by NASA scientists decades ago. The gyroid's performance is:
  • 7% better than a honeycomb-shaped pattern
  • 10% better than a diamond-shaped pattern
MIT research showed a gyroid pattern is 10 times stronger than solid material. Not only is it stronger, but the gyroid uses 90% less material.
